Álex de Marcos, born on the Halloween night of 1985, is an illustrator, and he is dedicated to all areas of illustration: From publishing to advertising for agencies around the world. His illustrations are cheerful and with a hint of innocence, often starred by women, whom he considers one of his main inspirations. He works for international brands and has received several awards.

1.-How would you define your work?

My job is what defines me... ("intense-dramatic" pause) haha, just kidding. I would define it as nonconformist. I am always looking for new aesthetics within the same visual language.

2.-Who do you consider a role model or what do you use as a source of inspiration?

I am a little obsessive. I am constantly open to external elements that may inspire or influence me. Lately, I find something that catches my attention in everything I see. I have no prejudices in that sense. Taking the "artist" ego off is hard but, when you stop trying to define yourself and feel accepted within a movement, I think you start getting rid of that burden and then you do not reject any stimulus.

3.-Which materials do you regularly use in your work?

I change from time to time… Now I'm going back to the acrylics, I'm very impatient and impulsive.

4.-What do you expect from the paint?

To offer coverage without looking like a paste, and that it smells good, hehehe

5.-What is a must in your colour palette?

I love pink and blue. I am very sober with my clothing, but I like to have chromatic richness when painting. I spend more time thinking about the colour palette I'm going to use than about whether it fits the actual drawing.
